The Murcia Department of Water, Agriculture, Livestock, and Fisheries plans to improve 55 rural roads this year at a cost of over €4 million. The Regional Ministry is currently putting out to tender the renovation of more than 20 roads in the municipalities of Alcantarilla, Puerto Lumbreras, Torre Pacheco, Águilas, Alhama de Murcia, Caravaca de la Cruz, Moratalla, Bullas, Calasparra, Ceutí, Abarán, Fuente Álamo, Ojós, San Javier, Villanueva, Yecla, and Campos del Río. Work will begin this week with the renovation of a road in Campos del Río.

The Regional Minister for Water, Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Francisco Jódar, during his visit last week to the development works on the CRS-27-635 road in Molina de Segura, highlighted that the rural road network forms a structural element of communication in rural areas that "supports conventional activities such as agriculture and livestock farming, and improves access to farms, homes and rural areas," thus contributing to improving the quality of life in rural areas.

Specifically, the CRS-27-635 road connects farms and other rural roads in the municipality of Molina de Segura. It is 832 meters long and has an average width of 5 meters. The work consists of applying a new tread layer based on triple asphalt treatment, reconstructing ditches, resurfacing shoulders with concrete in critical areas, installing cross drainage and a concrete culvert, and reinforcing road signs. The budget is €44,000.

These works are part of the project to improve eight rural roads in the municipalities of Albudeite, Bullas, Cieza, Jumilla, Molina de Segura, Moratalla, and Yecla, with a total length of 20.5 kilometers, a budget of €711,400, and a five-month completion period. The projects are co-financed with EAFRD funds (63%), the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Food, and the Environment (11.10%), and the Regional Ministry (25.90%).
