January 22, 2020. The International Tourism Fair (FITUR) begins today, running from the Feria de Madrid until January 26. This event is one of the world's leading events for the sector, and, as in previous editions, the National Rural Network is present at the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food stand, along with Alimentos de España and Caminos Naturales de España.
The National Rural Network has selected fifteen projects from LEADER groups across Spain to participate in the FITUR 2020 tourism fair, a benchmark event in the tourism sector.
The activities scheduled by the RRN at the Ministry's stand, located in Hall 9, Stand 9C14, are as follows:
Wednesday 22nd
11:00-11:30. “The Eastern Rioja Wine Route.” ADR La Rioja Suroriental
Certified since May 2018, the Eastern Rioja Wine Route aims to connect the entire range of natural, cultural, and heritage resources with the agri-food and business sectors.
11:30-12:00. “Castles in the Air.” Valladolid Central Local Action Group
The aim of Castles in the Air is to bring together elements present in the territory such as: Castles, Fortresses, Walls, Towers, Watchtowers, Motas, ancient defensive enclosures/sites, optical towers, and viewing platforms, always through their history, their heritage value, and the created landscape.
Thursday 23rd
11:30 - 12:00. Promotion of the "Traces of War" tourist resource. ADECOBEL
The project, titled "Traces of War" (Traces of War), was created to catalog, mark, and jointly disseminate artifacts from the Civil War in the Campo de Belchite region. The goal is to raise awareness of the past and help understand many of the events that took place in this area.
2:00-2:25 PM. “Wosphere.” Palentina Mountain Local Action Group
Wosphere is a digital platform for self-guided, sustainable environmental outreach in the natural environment . It is a tool aimed at developing a practical model of sustainable, responsible, and transformative environmental education .
2:25-2:50 PM. “The Forgotten Way to Santiago.” A cooperative project between GAL
The Forgotten Way to Santiago is a beautiful itinerary through the southern Cantabrian valleys, used between the 9th and 12th centuries , and is considered, along with the Primitive and Coastal routes, one of the oldest recorded Jacobean routes .
2:50-3:20 PM. “Geocaching. A Journey Through the Clandestine Pre-Pyrenees.” ADEFO 5 VILLAS, Cinco Villas Region
The Clandestine Pre-Pyrenees trip is completely free ; all you need is an internet connection on your mobile phone and the Geocaching app . Each route offers a story with a different theme, from prehistoric times to the Middle Ages and the Civil War.
Friday 24th
5:00-5:30 PM. ES MONTAÑAS Association
esMONTAÑAS pursues the development of Spain's mountain villages and their socioeconomic and environmental impact.
17:30–18:00. “LEADER NATURA”. GAL Cooperation Project. Consortium Leader Western Pyrenees
The main objective of the LEADER NATURA project is to promote the socio-economic and sustainable development of rural areas , particularly of natural and wildlife areas and their areas of influence included in LEADER territory , in coordination with local stakeholders and companies , and taking into account the compatibility of the conservation and sustainability of the environment with that of the socio-economic activities that take place there.
6:00–6:30 PM. “The Forgotten Heritage of the Asón” and “The Landscape Experience.” Ason-Aguera-Trasmiera Local Action Group
This GAL carries out several tourism promotion and revitalization initiatives to raise awareness of the region . Two of these initiatives will be presented at FITUR: the Forgotten Heritage of the Asón River , a project that aims to compile and give voice to forgotten and neglected elements of the Asón River, such as mills, forges , and other sites. The Landscape Experience , which aims to bring visitors closer to the rural environment and learn about the landscape and good practices carried out in the area, is also a project.
6:30–7:00 PM. “Gratitude Pallars: Social and Tourism Responsibility.” Leader Western Pirineu Consortium.
The purpose of the project “ Gratitud Pallars: Social and Tourism Responsibility ” is to develop a methodology to encourage the voluntary contribution of tourism companies, the local population and visitors to the conservation and enhancement of rural natural and cultural heritage.
Saturday 25th
10:00–10:30. “Rural Inn”. Liébana Local Action Group .
The project involved renovating an old mansion in the Lebanese town of Pumareña to convert it into Villa Matilde , the first rural inn in the Bedoya Valley, offering exclusive services to athletes, with personalized training and physical preparation services, both at professional and amateur levels.
10:30–11:00. “The Bosc d'Ali Baba”. “Cabanyes between Valls”. “Camping Bassegoda”. ADRINOC .
- “El Bosc d'Alí Baba” (Eduard Tolós Palau). This is a rural youth camp located in the heart of nature, based on sustainability and respect for the environment . Located in a town of fewer than 50 inhabitants, called Sant Tomàs de Fluvià , in the municipality of Torroella de Fluvià (Girona).
- “Cabanyes entre Valls” is a rural campsite offering accommodation in hanging cabins located in the trees on the property . It is located in the municipality of La Vall de Bianya (Girona). For more information:
- “Càmping Bassegoda”. Bassegoda Park is a small campsite located in Albanyà (Girona), a town with fewer than 150 inhabitants. It features a fully automated astronomical observatory equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, including the largest telescope in the province of Girona.
11:00– 11:30. “Espais Naturals de Ponent”. Local Action Group Associació Leader de Ponent.
The "Espais Naturals de Ponent" cooperation project aims to enhance the values of Ponent's Natural Areas, first among the local population , to ensure their preservation ; and second, among the foreign population , to promote ecotourism that helps diversify and boost the local economy.
11:30–12:00. “COL·LABORAxPAISATGE” and dry stone constructions. ADRINOC .
“COL·LABORAxPAISATGE” is an initiative that aims to enhance the landscape heritage of traditional dry-stone architecture as a predominant and identifying element of a large part of the rural landscapes of Catalonia and other areas near the Mediterranean.
15:00–15:30. “Territori of Valor” . GAL Noguera Segrià Consortium.
The project highlights the region's resources for family tourism and aims to boost tourism in the area by developing materials that showcase tourist attractions (cultural, natural, recreational, etc.) at all levels.
