Since their creation, almost all Local Action Groups in Spain and the EU have contributed to promoting and disseminating the ethnographic, cultural, and natural values of their territories. Since 1992, with the LEADER initiative, and later with PRODER, one of the chosen tools has been the creation of Interpretation Centers, Nature Classrooms, Museums , and other similar initiatives that have enabled environmental education activities in our towns. Following the crisis and the drastic decline in public funds and budgetary availability for local authorities, many of these centers have closed due to insufficient funding.
The need to show society that cities aren't the only ones that can be SMART motivates us to work together to address this need in the areas where this problem exists.
"Keeping these centers and museums open so they can continue to fulfill the purpose for which they were created." This is the proposal for LIVING MUSEUMS , a new project included in measure 19.3 of the Castile and León Regional Development Plan.
Specific objectives
- Design a joint strategy for promoting the culture of rural territories
- Design and execution of joint actions that allow the opening of these centers or museums
- Joint design of SMART instruments for the dissemination of the ethnographic and natural heritage of rural territories
