04/05/2021. The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food has published the extract of the call for applications for the 12th edition of the Excellence in Innovation Awards for Rural Women, corresponding to 2021, in the Official State Gazette.
- Its objective is to recognize new, excellent, original and innovative projects carried out by rural women and actions that recognize the work and role of women in rural areas.
- They include four categories: "Excellence for Innovation in Agricultural Activity", "Excellence for Innovation in Fishing or Aquaculture Activity", "Excellence for Innovation in the Diversification of Economic Activity in Rural Areas" , "Excellence in Communication" and a "Special Recognition for a Career Linked to Supporting Women in Rural Areas".
- In each category, three initiatives will be awarded, with first, second, and third prizes of 18,000, 12,000, and 7,500 euros respectively, except for the recognition for the career linked to supporting rural women, which is of an honorary nature.
These awards, which the Ministry has held annually since 2010, are one of the Spanish Government's main recognitions of the outstanding work, projects, and careers of women in rural areas.
These projects seek to highlight the work women do in our rural areas and their essential contribution to the development of these territories, with the implementation of projects that are often examples of economic diversification, innovation, and entrepreneurship in rural areas.
Therefore, these awards recognize new, excellent, original, and innovative projects carried out by rural women, as well as initiatives that recognize the work and role of women in rural areas.
They include four categories: "Excellence for Innovation in Agricultural Activity", "Excellence for Innovation in Fishing or Aquaculture Activity", "Excellence for Innovation in the Diversification of Rural Economic Activity", and " Excellence for Communication", with three initiatives awarded in each category. First, second, and third prizes of €18,000, €12,000, and €7,500 will be awarded.
These categories include an honorary award for "Special Recognition for a Career Linked to Supporting Women in Rural Areas."
The deadline for submitting applications for these awards is June 4, 2021 , one month after their publication in the Official State Gazette (BOE).

AWARD CATEGORIES
"Excellence Award for Innovation in Agricultural Activity." Aimed at projects that utilize agricultural, livestock, or forestry technologies that contribute to the advancement of a sustainable sector, efficient in producing quality products, that responds to consumer demand, and that can integrate marketing and promotion strategies.
"Excellence Award for Innovation in Fishing or Aquaculture." Aimed at projects that utilize fishing or aquaculture technologies that contribute to the advancement of a sustainable sector, efficient in producing quality products, that responds to consumer demand, and that can integrate marketing and promotion strategies.
"Excellence Award for Innovation in the Diversification of Economic Activity in Rural Areas or Rural Coastal Areas." This award will be given to projects that diversify economic activity in rural areas, linked to, among others, the agri-food industry, the fishing or aquaculture industry, the provision of services to agriculture and forestry, activities related to the provision of services and social integration, and tourism activities, which foster new economic sectors or generate employment in rural areas or rural coastal areas.
"Excellence in Communication" Award. Aimed at recognizing work in the fields of communication, information, and media that has contributed to disseminating women's work in rural areas or rural coastal areas, their social recognition, and their national and international promotion, thereby promoting equal opportunities between women and men.
"Special recognition for a career linked to supporting women in rural areas." This is an extraordinary recognition for women or organizations with a woman as their director, who have played a prominent role in supporting, promoting, and enhancing women in rural areas or rural coastal areas. This is an honorary award that does not include a monetary prize.
