On December 15, 2020, the Regional Antennas program, implemented nationwide by the National Rural Network (RRN), was launched through the presentation to the Rural Development Program (RDP) management authorities. In total, a team of nine Regional Antennas carry out their work in all the autonomous communities.

  • The work of the Regional Antennas focuses on understanding the different regional realities, identifying good practice projects, organizing workshops, and improving the dissemination of RRN content.
  • The team of the 9 Regional Antennas covers all the autonomous communities and its objective is to achieve the greatest possible proximity to rural areas.

The objective of the Regional Antennas program is to offer the RRN a greater presence in the region, as well as greater connections to rural areas . Its importance is vital to disseminating the Rural Development Program (RDP) .

1st anniversary: review

The Regional Antennas began their journey with an agenda that outlined three immediate objectives:

  1. Identify and know the main agents of each territory
  2. Promoting participatory workshops on the "Long-term vision for rural areas" : the Regional Antennas launched workshops in their territories to disseminate this strategy promoted by the European Commission, with the aim of encouraging local authorities to develop workshops on the future of their rural areas so that the different specificities of Spanish rural areas would be reflected in the "Rural Europe 2040" strategy .
  3. 3rd Rural Inspiration Awards 2021: The NRN sent the projects identified by the Regional Antennas as having the best potential to compete in this edition, which focused on "Rural Future" to the European Network for Rural Development (ENRD) . Finally, of the two projects selected for the final phase by the ENRD (out of the eight shortlisted by the NRN), the winner was the "Local-Scale Circular Bioeconomy Pilot Project" (Bordablanca, Navarra), in the "Resilient Future" category.

During 2021, the Regional Antennas have organized several meetings at the territorial level, and have carried out a diagnosis in each territory on rural entrepreneurship :

The Regional Antennas program will continue throughout 2022 with a series of in-person meetings for rural youth in each of the autonomous communities.
