Public-Private Partnership Forum: New Sustainable Raw Materials in Food

14 de Junio de 2017 00:00 - 00:00
Descripción

The objective of this public-private collaboration forum is, as on previous occasions, to provide a space for dialogue between research teams from public centers, the business sector, and representatives of the sectors, with the ultimate goal of promoting collaboration and participation in joint projects and thus fostering research and technological innovation in the Spanish agri-food sector.

The forum's theme stems from the EU's strategic interest in the availability and safety of sustainably produced food to feed a growing population, which increasingly demands good nutrition tailored to individual life situations and ensuring well-being and health in the face of problems generated by both the increasing average age of our population and the lifestyles of our society.
This, combined with the increasingly evident fact of climate change and the possibility, in some cases, of using and enhancing unprofitable land for more conventional crops, has encouraged us to raise this topic, which we hope will be of interest to you.
To this end, it is proposed to develop strategies and agreements to more confidently face a near future in which we seek to expand the number of species capable of supplying the market, providing products with favorable nutritional characteristics and that are environmentally sustainable, as outlined in the Commission's document: Food2030.
Topics will be addressed, including cultivation and production, species, nutritional benefits, and possibilities for organizing producers and accessing markets, all of which are considered necessary for achieving sustainability and enhancing the value of production and products, as well as supporting rural development.
In a series of short presentations, the research teams will present their current activities and offer future collaboration opportunities. Companies and the manufacturing sector will have the opportunity to present their R&D&I needs, with the goal of seeking opportunities for cooperation and coordinated project proposals. A small section will also be dedicated to potential funding sources and a panel discussion.
