The National Rural Network promoted the creation of the LEADER Interterritorial and Transnational Cooperation Working Group (WG) at the end of 2015 to address its task of promoting interterritorial and transnational cooperation and providing technical assistance to LAGs. To date, the WG has defined a coordination procedure between Managing Authorities (MAAs), which is already being implemented. Looking ahead, this Working Group will focus on transnational cooperation.
June 26, 2018
This meeting began with four objectives: to jointly assess the implementation of the coordination procedure with the AAGG, to hear firsthand the difficulties encountered by groups seeking to launch this type of project, to present the cooperation manual that the NRN will soon release, and to decide on the future of the working group.
To provide the GAs with the opportunity to review it before its final publication, the LEADER Cooperation Manual developed by the National Regional Office (RNO) was presented. It aims to be a useful and simple tool to facilitate the implementation of projects between different regions of the country. This manual, aimed at LAGs and GAs planning to become involved in a project of this nature, will soon be available on the RRN website for consultation.
In particular, four Local Action Groups, coordinators of ongoing inter-regional cooperation projects, shared their experiences, presenting and explaining the decisions they have made and any questions they still have, with the aim of sharing experiences and enabling mutual learning. The projects presented were: ENFOCC, by the Ripollés Ges Bisaura GAL; the SSPA 2021 Challenge project coordinated by AGUJAMA; the Caudiel Valley Biosphere Reserve Proposal project, presented by ADIMAN; and finally, the Ofycumi cooperation project Cuencas Mineras (Mining Basins). These case studies highlighted the richness brought by cooperation between groups from different regions with common interests. For this reason, cooperation has always been a hallmark of LEADER.
