The Local Action Groups of the autonomous community are joining forces again in a project to promote and encourage local consumption of Aragonese products.

  • The project seeks to promote the consumption of local products through 3 well-defined actions

In 2020, the "Put Aragon on Your Table" project brought together several rural development associations in the Aragonese countryside, along with agri-food producers and marketers from the region, in cooperation with the LEADER approach . The initiatives have a dual purpose:

  • To highlight the quality of agricultural and food products by helping to spread them.
  • Supporting agri-food entrepreneurship and facilitating marketing.

Now, looking ahead to 2023, the Local Action Groups (LAG) of Aragon are once again joining forces on an agri-food promotion project that seeks to encourage the consumption of local Aragonese products: "The people feed me."

Actions

Adefo Cinco Villas , the coordinating entity of the project "Put Aragon on your table," is once again leading this new initiative "The People Feed Me," which has set the following milestones:

1- Direct actions with the consumer :

“From the village to the city” : local producers will travel to the city to showcase their products through presentations, tastings, and more.

"From the city to the village": visits to workshops and plots of land to explain the origin of the product and its surroundings, which in turn involves educating the rural environment and its values.

2- Visibility of the local product :

"Buy, cook, and share" : a forum for conversation between producers and consumers via social media, creating a space for exchanging views on food use.

3- Digitalization and energy efficiency actions with agri-food producers .

“Green Workshops” : Personalized advice to producers to help them adopt the best sustainability measures for their business.

4- Digital platform .

"Connected Foods" : a tool for exchange and mutual support for agricultural and food producers. It will showcase their products and facilitate contact between professionals and consumers.

Rosa Rived, project coordinator and Adefo Cinco Villas technician, explains to the National Rural Network (RRN) that "Local Action Groups at the national level are entering a new LEADER period in 2023, in which we must reformulate new participatory local development strategies for the 2023-2027 programming period in line with the introduction of the new PEPAC."

“The People Feed Me” has received support from the EDP Foundation (Energias de Portugal) .
